How to pass the Baladiya exam on the first try
You need 80% to pass — 40 right answers out of 50. That is high, and many people fail the first time. The good news: the test checks the same rules again and again. With 10–20 minutes a day for one week, you can learn them.
In this guide
Your 7-day plan
- Day 1 — Personal hygiene and handwashing. Learn when to wash your hands and why gloves are not a replacement for washing.
- Day 2 — Illness and wounds. Learn when you must tell your supervisor and stay away from food.
- Day 3 — Temperatures. Learn the danger zone (5–60 °C), fridge 0–4 °C, freezer -18 °C or colder, cooking to 75 °C in the centre, hot holding at 60 °C or more.
- Day 4 — Cross-contamination and storage. Raw food below cooked food, separate boards and knives, first in, first out.
- Day 5 — Deliveries, cleaning, pests and waste. Chilled food arrives at 4 °C or colder; frozen at -18 °C or colder.
- Day 6 — Allergens and the Saudi rules: health certificate, retake, renewal every 3 years.
- Day 7 — Take a full practice exam: 50 questions, 90 minutes. Then fix your mistakes and take a second one.

Tips from the candidate guide
The test centre's own guide gives this advice:
- Study the main topics well and practise on questions like the real ones.
- Memorise the important temperatures and numbers.
- Read each question twice. Check if it says choose one or choose all that are correct.
- In order questions, think about the logical sequence. In picture questions, look for the clear mistake.
- Watch for words like 'always', 'never' and 'all'. If any part of a statement is wrong, the answer is 'false'.
How to know you are ready
Do not guess. You are ready when three things are true: you have practised every topic, you scored 80% or more in two practice exams in a row, and you have fixed all your mistakes. Our trainer ticks these for you.
We tell you when you are ready- Every topic practised
- 2 practice exams in a row at 80% or more
- All your mistakes fixed
Questions people ask
Is the Baladiya exam hard?
The questions are not tricky, but the pass mark is high: 80%. Most people who fail did not learn the numbers — temperatures and times. Practise them and the test becomes much easier.
How long should I study?
About one week, 10–20 minutes a day, is enough for most food workers. Finish with two full practice exams.
Do I need to take a course before the test?
The candidate guide says you must either read the approved study package before the test or complete approved training at a licensed centre.
