Question types

The candidate guide lists these types. Our trainer uses the first four:

  • One correct answer — choose the single best option.
  • Several correct answers — the question says 'choose all that are correct'.
  • True or false — for example: 'Raw meat can be stored on any shelf if it is wrapped.' (False: raw meat goes on the bottom shelf.)
  • Put in order — for example the steps of handwashing.
  • Picture questions — a photo of a worker; you decide if what they do is right or wrong.
  • Video questions — a short video of a task in a kitchen.

How hard are the questions?

The questions are mixed by difficulty: 20% very easy, 40% easy, 30% medium and 10% hard. So most questions are not difficult — but because you need 80%, a few mistakes are enough to fail.

90 minutes is enough — if you practise

That is almost two minutes per question. People who run out of time usually stop too long on hard questions. Answer the easy ones first, then come back.
